Gabriel Chi Ming Yu
Founder and Chairman,
iTVentures Group
Gabriel Yu is the founder and Chairman of iTVentures Group of Companies. He is also the
founder of Chinesebooks.com, and the publisher of the digital Siku Quanshu the
largest digital collection of Chinese classic works (www.skqs.com).
Gabriel¡¦s professional and business careers span a wide range of industries.
Trained as an electrical engineer, he worked as a design and manufacturing engineer
between 1970 and 1973. He was an investment banker during the period 1975-1983
with Bank of America and later HSBC, after he completed a 2-year MBA program.
He started his own businesses in the early 1980¡¦s in apparel trading and PC
hardware distribution. In 1988 he established a manufacturing operation in
Bangkok, specializing in high-technology manufacturing and high-precision
assemblies for the PC industry. Since 1995, he has spent most of his time as an
incubator of IT technologies and software applications.
He holds the following positions in the public sector:

Gabriel graduated from The
University of Hong Kong in 1970 and obtained his MBA from The Chinese
University of Hong Kong in 1975. He was awarded the Price Waterhouse Associates
Ltd for the best all-round graduate for 1975 and Beta Gamma Sigma ¡V Chapter
Honoree Award by The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003.
